Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS)

Service Information:

We are a team of Specialist Teachers, EAL Support Advisors and Support Workers who work closely with schools, children, young people, families and communities to promote inclusive approaches to learning with the aim of raising aspirations and attainment for these minority groups.

Please note that a Core Service is provided to Somerset Maintained schools and academies at no charge.

Through our specialist knowledge we aim to support schools in building capacity in their provision for EAL pupils. We offer regular academic, social and emotional support to individuals and groups of pupils. We carry out a range of specialist language assessments and support pupils at key transition points.

We work alongside schools and other agencies to ensure pupils are supported appropriately to enable them to access, achieve and enjoy their education. We also offer a range of specialist training courses, school insets and twilights.

Service Criteria to include in the EHA:
