Hearing Support Service

Service Information:

The Hearing Support Team is part of the Children and Young People’s specialist service, SEND & Inclusion support Somerset. The Hearing Support Team works with children and young people (C&YP) from birth up to 25 years old (post 18 C&YP will only receive support with an EHCP).

We visit Children and young people in their homes, pre-school settings, schools and colleges.

We provide information to parents or carers about using hearing aids, cochlear implants, and bone conduction hearing aids (as applicable), and the effects of hearing loss on language development and access to learning

We work closely with Audiologists, ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) Consultants, Cochlear Implant Teams, Educational Psychologists and Speech and Language Therapists and voluntary agencies such as the National Deaf Children’s Society.

We provide direct support and training for schools, colleges and Early Years settings in order to be sure the needs of your child are planned for.
